Zara
Zara is a nervous but practical non-combatant in Atticus's camp division. Her willingness to approach him when others distrust the tiered families helps organize the group and creates an opening for her family's blacksmithing knowledge.
Biography
Trust and practical camp leadership
Zara ignores Hen's warning that the tiered cannot be trusted and bows before Atticus to ask what the non-combatants should do. Although frightened by his battlefield reputation, she notices that he listens and does not demand humiliation. Her questions and practical suggestions gradually reassure Hen and the others that Atticus will treat their concerns as part of the division rather than a nuisance. (Chapters 193–252)
Zara comes from a blacksmith family and has the muscles of workshop labor, though she was never formally trained. Atticus buys instructional material that lets her fill gaps in her knowledge, and she later arranges a deal to record blacksmithing classes. The result turns her from a dependent camp member into an active conduit for a trade the division needs. (Chapters 202–331)
Appearance and personality
Zara has firm muscles from helping in her father's workshop and initially stutters or clasps her fingers under attention. She is respectful, cautious, observant, practical, and willing to challenge group fear when a workable relationship is possible.
Abilities, bloodlines, and will
Zara is classified among the non-combatants and no bloodline, rank, will technique, or fighting art is demonstrated. Her sourced expertise is developing blacksmith craft: prior workshop experience combines with formal written instruction and recorded lessons. The corpus does not establish her later mastery level or a unique forging power. (Chapters 202, 331)
