Thane Veylor

Thane Veylor is a Redflame administrator who first monitors Atticus for higher nobles and later faces him as a newly promoted Marquis. His loyalty to hierarchy makes him accept a fight designed to turn him into Atticus's warning to the board.

Biography

Redflame overseer and future opponent

As Count, Thane relays that Atticus has earned a Marquis's ire and decides whether to approve challenges involving him. He recognizes that both the Marquis and the Great Verge have unusual interest in the newcomer, yet continues applying factional procedure. After Atticus conquers Nerrot, Thane withdraws before Merek can argue and promises they will meet in the Ascendant Games, preserving institutional dignity while postponing direct action. (Chapters 1325–1345)

Now a Marquis, Thane becomes Atticus's deliberate target on the board. He accepts the challenge under Dravek's order to end it in one strike, ignites Redflame will through a broadsword, and turns distant sand to glass. Katara cuts through both weapon and will shield; Atticus splits Thane in two and claims the territory, using the death to restore fear among rivals who had begun circling him. (Chapters 1539–1543)

Appearance and personality

Thane carries the formal bearing of a Count and later Marquis, with crimson-lit eyes when fighting. He is hierarchical, cautious in administration, proud of hard-earned rank, and deeply angered when treated as another person's expendable tool.

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

Thane uses Marquis-rank Redflame will, extreme speed, and a broadsword. His heat fuses sand into glass over kilometers, and he can condense will into a shield. Katara severs will directly, destroying both sword and barrier, so his raw output cannot protect him from the life weapon's demonstrated property. (Chapter 1539)
