Reed
Reed is the Ravenstein camp official who hosts and referees the ranked combat challenges. His concise commands provide the structure within which the trainees' rivalries and abilities are tested.
Biography
Refereeing the camp rankings
Reed opens the challenge day by explaining mandatory upward challenges, refusal conditions, weapon preparation, and the protective-rune threshold. He then calls trainees by rank, starts and ends each bout, and declares winners across the first- and third-year groups. Atticus's speed surprises him enough that Reed announces the boy by name rather than rank, but he recovers and continues administering the event through its final matches. (Chapters 70–74)
Appearance and personality
The supplied chapters do not give Reed a detailed physical description. He is commanding, procedural, attentive to Rowan's authorization, and capable of momentary surprise without losing control of the arena.
Abilities, bloodlines, and will
Reed is strong enough to see through the arena booth's tinted glass and to follow most trainee bouts as referee. No precise rank, bloodline, signature technique, will power, or equipment mechanic is stated. His failure to visually register Atticus's decisive movement supplies a practical perception limit relative to exceptional trainees. (Chapters 70–74)
