Orvain Virex

Orvain Virex is an underqualified Redflame heir protected by his father's name and stronger retainers. The resource war strips away those protections, leaving him first as Atticus's coerced guide and then as a disposable witness.

Biography

Heirship without the strength to sustain it

Rhexan selects Orvain for the resource war despite openly despising his weakness, supplying two bald guardians and information intended to make the appointment viable. Orvain leans on his father's authority when Zair nearly kills him and again when Atticus approaches, masking fear with a rehearsed Redflame threat. Atticus dismantles that posture, captures him, and secretly preserves him after appearing to burn him before the observers. (Chapters 1601–1615)

Orvain initially welcomes the chance to guide Atticus toward rival estates, believing the arrangement may spare or benefit him, but watches Atticus slaughter every major Archduke he identifies. He then divulges the remaining faction leadership under pressure. Once Atticus has the information, he severs Orvain's head despite the Arbiter's argument that the captive could remain useful, ending both his custody and House Virex's succession plan. Appearance and personality

Orvain's body is shown trembling, sweating, and covered in soot after Atticus reveals he survived. He is fearful, entitled, and dependent on inherited status, with little real combat confidence; survival briefly makes him cooperative, but never secure.

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

Orvain is a Redflame heir whose position implies access to factional will, yet he admits through the narration that he has no real talent for fighting. Two guardians stop Zair's Absolute Severance for him, and Atticus dominates him without needing a prolonged exchange. No named personal technique, stable rank, limit, or independent battlefield victory is demonstrated. (Chapters 1611–1615)
