Niall

Niall is the Sovereign's humanoid vizier, an emerging sentient being who first treats Atticus as a dangerous inferior and later becomes bound to his service. His change in position is imposed by defeat, leaving fear and confusion where authority once stood.

Biography

From hostile vizier to compelled subordinate

Niall drags Atticus before the Sovereign and angrily enforces courtly respect, only for his master to rebuke his rudeness and note that he has not yet gained true sentience. When the Sovereign's trial later places Niall against Atticus, the vizier fights desperately to avoid becoming enslaved to someone he tried to kill. The Sovereign interrupts the killing blow, but the outcome still strips Niall of his prior independence and places him under Atticus's authority. (Chapters 624–632)

Niall subsequently travels under Ravenstein supervision, with Magnus shielding him during a sector scan and Atticus treating him as a monitored subordinate rather than a trusted companion. By his latest appearance he lingers outside a tense exchange between Atticus and Dario, unable to obtain an explanation. He remains alive, but his unresolved questions underline how little control he has over the new hierarchy. (Chapters 676, 865)

Appearance and personality

Niall is described as a Grandmaster humanoid rather than an ordinary human. He begins proud, severe, and quick to punish disrespect, then becomes openly desperate when his own freedom is at stake. His later confusion suggests developing self-awareness without matching autonomy.

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

Niall possesses Grandmaster+ physical and mana capacity and is dangerous enough to pressure Atticus during the Sovereign's trial. His exact construction, signature techniques, and energy costs are not fully specified. Magnus's need to shield him from a sector barrier also establishes a limit: his rank does not make him immune to larger detection and containment systems. (Chapters 624–632, 676)
