Nerrot

Nerrot is a Redflame god who tries to turn the middle plane's challenge rules and public spectacle against Atticus. His polished confidence hides dependence on his father's status and on a scheme that collapses once Atticus conquers his world.

Biography

The challenge for Kraelthus

Seeking revenge and approval before influential observers, Nerrot spreads word of his intended victory and tries to maneuver Atticus into inviting Redflame forces onto his world. Atticus recognizes the ploy, reverses the god-challenge, and wins Kraelthus, converting Nerrot from challenger into a subject under his authority. Nerrot's father, Merek, is forced to watch because the same rules that enabled the challenge prevent him from intervening. (Chapters 1338–1345)

Atticus summons Nerrot before Merek and kills him slowly with overwhelming heated will, reducing his body to nothing after erasing the warriors who attempt a rescue. Nerrot's death transfers practical rule of Kraelthus to Atticus, recalls the Redflame Burning directed at him, and turns Merek's humiliation into a promise of retaliation. (Chapters 1345–1346, 1360)

Appearance and personality

Nerrot has a goatee and habitually maintains a calm smile while calculating leverage. He is manipulative, status-conscious, and publicly self-assured, but his composure breaks into fear when his father cannot save him from the consequences of the challenge.

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

As Kraelthus's god on the Redflame path, Nerrot possesses world-linked will associated with extreme heat and commands numerous Redflame warriors. His most important demonstrated application is political and metaphysical control through the middle-plane challenge system rather than a fully documented personal technique. Atticus overwhelms and absorbs his will, establishing that Nerrot's authority offers no defense after control of the world changes hands. (Chapters 1338–1346)
