Kaelan resents that awakening a Tier 6 spirit has not earned the rewards he believes were promised, and he turns that grievance toward Atticus. He joins the Starhaven faction at the Spiritual Lake, where Atticus's synchronization eclipses his own and shocks him. Kaelan then passes an opportunity to Veylor, helping connect the Starhaven ambush to the Obsidian Order and making wounded entitlement part of a larger murder plot. (Chapters 825, 832–841)
