Halden

Viktor Halden is a recurring supporting figure whose choices clarify the pressures surrounding the principal cast and institutions.

Biography

A trainer who refuses to flatter power

Assigned to train Atticus, Viktor insists that even a General Apex obey the same fundamentals as any recruit. His blunt drills and refusal to be intimidated win Atticus's respect, and Atticus later promotes him over the abusive Voren. Viktor continues serving during the Obsidian assault and dies in the fighting, leaving his instructions as one of the voices Atticus recalls afterward. (Chapters 968–969, 993, 1031, and 1058–1080)

Appearance and personality

Viktor is defined by a hard military bearing, direct speech, and the composure to face someone vastly stronger without fawning. The corpus emphasizes his disciplined presence more securely than fixed hair or eye colors. (Chapters 968–969 and 996)

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

His demonstrated strengths are military conditioning, weapons instruction, battlefield discipline, and command rather than a named supernatural bloodline. He possesses the mana-enhanced physical ability expected of a veteran soldier, but the source does not establish a unique element, Will, or signature technique; his effectiveness comes from experience and uncompromising standards. (Chapters 968–969, 993, and 1038)

Relationships

Atticus becomes the recruit who recognizes his integrity; Voren is the superior displaced when Atticus promotes Viktor.
