Emeric is a Psysquillian youth who tries to seize Atticus's mind during the academy invasion and discovers an overwhelming difference in willpower.

Biography

The failed possession

Emeric approaches the academy battle analytically, running through possibilities before deciding to examine his opponent directly. That confidence rests on psychic control: he brings Atticus into a mental contest and attempts to impose his will. Instead, Emeric encounters a presence so vast that the comparison becomes hopeless, and Atticus overcomes him. The clash remains useful to Atticus afterward as an early reference point for understanding conflicts of Will, even though Emeric himself does not survive to develop further. (Chapters 237–261, 270, and 418)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not securely establish Emeric's detailed features beyond his youth and Psysquillian identity. He is cold, calculating, and accustomed to unusual reactions from those around him, but his composure breaks when his defining advantage meets Atticus's mind. (Chapters 237 and 247)

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

Emeric can project his consciousness into a mental space and attempt to control another person through a direct clash of wills. The technique depends on overcoming the target's inner resistance; against Atticus, Emeric's will feels tiny and cannot dominate. Its range, physical cost, and whether it is racial or individually trained remain unstated. (Chapters 237–251 and 418)
