Eldros

Eldros is the Nature faction's Grand Sovereign in the Span, a calculating shapeshifter who underestimates Whisker's patience and pays for it with his life.

Biography

Sovereign of false bodies

Eldros appears above assembled Archdukes as the authority to whom Edras immediately kneels, treating even favored subordinates with the fondness of an owner toward a pet. During the later conflict he targets Whisker through an army of replaceable bodies, conserving his own strength while drawing down the beast's reserves. The plan appears to succeed when a decoy dies and a clone impales Whisker, but Whisker has substituted a summon, locates the true Eldros, snaps his neck, and consumes him with Will. (Chapters 1600–1601 and 1642–1651)

Appearance and personality

Eldros maintains a calm smile and enjoys watching opponents become frustrated, wounded, or apparently broken. His calculated cruelty survives even fatal-looking injury because he expects every visible body to be expendable, making the shock of genuine capture especially complete. (Chapters 1600 and 1649–1651)

Abilities, bloodlines, and will

Eldros creates endless identical clones from the forest, liquefies false bodies into slime, transfers his apparent presence among them, and detonates a body as a trap. Maintaining the illusion costs little enough to support attrition warfare. Careful concealment and a substituted summon let Whisker bypass the network and seize the real body; once consumed by Will, no further regeneration is shown. (Chapters 1642–1651)
