Joo Ji-Hyuk's Zweihänder

Joo Ji-Hyuk's Zweihänder is a black-steel, Mid Quality greatsword made by Kim Sae-Jin for Joo Ji-Hyuk. Its four attributes—Increased Sturdiness, Material Destruction, Weight Reduction, and Stamina Recovery—are chosen to support prolonged front-line fighting and Ji-Hyuk's natural mastery of heavy two-handed swords.

History

A weapon matched to its wielder

Sae-Jin creates the Zweihänder as one of two weapons promised to Knights associated with his Society. He makes it specifically for Ji-Hyuk and selects four attributes to complement the Knight's fighting style. Ji-Hyuk is moved nearly to tears when he receives it, and the photograph he later posts online draws attention both domestically and abroad. The delivery establishes a direct maker-to-wielder chain rather than an auction or temporary loan. (Chapter 44)

Breaking the Big-Giant-Turtle's shell

The weapon's first documented hunt demonstrates the pairing. Ji-Hyuk attacks a Big-Giant-Turtle, whose unusually hard shell partially negates Mana-based attacks. The black-steel Zweihänder cuts through the shell easily through the combination of Material Destruction and Ji-Hyuk's skill with heavy swords. This matters because his Heavy Swords Mastery gives him complete ability with weapons requiring both hands but had also limited his advancement when suitable equipment was unavailable; the Orc-made sword removes that immediate equipment bottleneck. Ji-Hyuk regards the result as life-changing. Rather than selling the valuable shell recovered from the hunt, he sends pieces to Sae-Jin with a handwritten letter explaining how much the new sword has changed his life and expressing his gratitude. This gift does not transfer the Zweihänder itself: Ji-Hyuk retains and continues to use the weapon. (Chapter 45)

Assault on Bathory

The greatsword remains part of Ji-Hyuk's front-line equipment during the rescue assault on Bathory. He brings it down on her at the same time as Hye-Rin's flexible sword, the White Tiger's claws, and another Knight's weapon after Mana suppression and a volley of bolts have weakened the target. Bathory survives the combined pressure and later moves against the group, showing that the Zweihänder's destructive specialization is powerful but not a guarantee against an exceptional opponent. The chapter does not report damage to the blade or a change of holder. (Chapter 145)

Abilities and properties

• Material Destruction: This attribute works with Ji-Hyuk's heavy-sword technique to cut cleanly through the Big-Giant-Turtle's tough, partially Mana-resistant shell.
