Kim Yu-Sohn is a veteran Mercenary, intelligence organizer, and prophetic Trait holder whose judgment gives Kim Sae-Jin the Lycan identity and later helps turn The Monster into a strategic defense network. Yu-Sohn begins as a middle-aged former A-ranked Mercenary maintaining an abandoned Tavern after the profession has nearly disappeared. His son asks him to retire, but Yu-Sohn's refusal is rooted in more than nostalgia: his wife died violently, he chose the Mercenary path afterward, and a new dream convinces him that strengthened vampires are preparing to act while Knight Orders remain constrained by public opinion. When an unknown caller answers his anti-vampire commission exactly as the dream predicted, Yu-Sohn registers him under the name Lycan and grants him A rank after one conversation. The choice gives Sae-Jin operational cover and begins reviving the occupation Yu-Sohn believes the coming conflict still needs. (Chapter 26)

Yu-Sohn later applies to The Monster knowing that Sae-Jin, the Lycan, and several Monster forms are one being. He has already protected that secret by adapting his own old service record into Lycan's history, frustrating an official investigation without demanding payment or leverage.
